A more fun and engaging experience
After many years, it was time to digitise the experience of the Classic Race Aarhus car race. The aim was to make it easier and more fun for visitors to participate in the event, show live results wherever you stand (even outside the square), and sell more in stalls through highlighted and targeted content and push notifications.
The event app allows spectators to quickly get a full overview of the event site, view race programmes, get live updates and find current events for children and adults.
In addition to ongoing information from the race, the app also offers help with directions, parking and a “Classic Race Aarhus” guide for beginners that prepares visitors for their first race.
For Classic Race Aarhus, we designed and developed a visually stunning and technically strong app that met all the requirements of the event.

Interactive map provides an overview
One of the purposes of the event app was to make it easy to find your way around the site.
A digital event map with descriptions of the various stands and the ability to zoom in makes it easy for visitors to find their way to everything from stalls and stands to toilets, parking and first aiders.
The map is implemented on top of Google Maps, so you can always relate your own location to the map – even if you are entering the area.


Tested, flawless and with increased safety
When developing event apps, it’s a “one shot” in the sense that for the few days the event is running, it’s crucial that the app works 100%.
The focus has been to create an app that can technically handle explosive and instantaneous scaling – even if all 35,000 guests choose to follow live race results or stream video at the same time.
Push notifications as an extra security feature
At events where so many people are gathered at the same time, it’s incredibly important to be able to inform everyone if something urgent should arise. One wish was therefore to be able to send push notifications to all visitors/users of the event app and have the option to take over the screen for important messages.
Guests, volunteers, neighbours and breed enthusiasts across the country
In an expanded FAQ section, visitors, volunteers, neighbours and race enthusiasts across the country can find useful information about the event.
Visitors can find their way to Classic Race Aarhus, find parking and information about race classes, flag rules, guides etc.
Volunteers can find practical information about the work at the site, and neighbours can find information about access to their own homes and a “Dear neighbour, thanks for having us here…” message to create a good relationship.
The event app also serves as an important promotion for sponsors and partners, who are represented by logos on selected pages or places in the app.
