Built-in counter with NFC chip

The trap has a built-in NFC counter that automatically registers each time the trap is triggered. This way, the user can always keep track of how many shots are left in the CO2 cartridge and follow the progress of the fight.

When the user scans the trap, relevant data is sent to the app and presented in a clear dashboard:

How many times has the trap been triggered
When was the last time the trap was serviced?
When was the last time the CO2 cartridge was changed?
When was the last time the bait was changed?

Innovative and efficient

Camro works with the production and further development of products for the pest control industry. With a fully automatic, gas-powered trap with a built-in NFC chip, they want to make it easy, simple and more effective to catch pests – without the use of poison.

Based on a raw POC (proof of concept), Camro contacted us. They had clearly thought about what they wanted and needed for the new app, but needed help to solve it technically.

The solution was a native app with a focus on quick reading of activities in the trap, as well as easy configuration and maintenance to ensure it always performs optimally.

Handling large amounts of data and geo-location

The NFC chip and app send a lot of data back and forth – even more than NFC technology can normally handle. Therefore, in the development process we have focused on ensuring that these can handle heavier data packets.

A built-in counter also lets the user clearly see that the app is in the process of receiving data, so scanning is completed until all data is received.

The app also shows the geo-location of the trap. This is relevant, for example, when an exterminator has to go out and service the trap.

Easily set up the trap via the app

The app is also used to easily configure the trap using the built-in NFC. For example, all data fields can be reset if the user moves the trap to a new location, changes bait, CO2 cartridge, etc.
