A better standard for emergency aid in Greenland

Greenland’s nature and landscape is a challenge if you need an AED in an emergency. That’s why we partnered with four Rotary Clubs and the Red Cross(Kalaallit Røde Korsiat) to improve the standard of finding AEDs in Greenland.

An app that helps save lives

Inspired by Trygfonden’s defibrillator programme in Denmark, we quickly agreed that an app was an obvious solution. The requirements for the app were that it should quickly and efficiently guide citizens to the nearest defibrillator and work in multiple languages.

A safer place to live and visit

The project has been a milestone in ‘Project AEDs for Greenland’ and has already made a difference to the health services in the region. The next step is to collect the GPS coordinates of the existing 150-200 AEDs in Greenland, a task that will be carried out by youth volunteers. The app was fully rolled out in summer 2023

Funding and social responsibility

The total funding for the project amounted to DKK 160,000. The funding was shared between Nuuk Rotary Club, Rotary E-Club One of Denmark, Hørsholm RK and Humlebæk-Nivå RK. A Corporate Social Responsibility rebate was also given by us in Makeable, which totalled DKK 45,000.
