FOA is Denmark’s third-largest trade union with approximately 172,000 members across 36 departments nationwide, most of whom are public employees.
FOA approached us with a desire to make it easier for their union representatives (UR) and chief union representatives (CUR) to handle and streamline their work on the go. Until now, the work has been dependent on a computer and a web platform.
Strong Focus on Security and GDPR
It is crucial for FOA to protect their members’ data. From the very beginning, FOA has had a strong focus on security. Since URs can see and handle sensitive member data daily in the app, it was a requirement that GDPR is strictly adhered to, approved by FOA’s DPO (Data Protection Officer).
Additionally, the app has undergone a thorough penetration test, a security test conducted by a third party, which has verified that the app meets the highest security standards.
FOAs Security-enhancing features
- Biometric login and supplementary personal PIN code
- Critical consideration of data retrieval, display, and local storage
- Re-verification of user/login when necessary for security reasons
- Ability to give and withdraw consents, including for sharing pictures and conditions
The app has also undergone numerous user tests to ensure that the solution meets both FOA’s and the union representatives’ needs.
Continuos Feedback and Nudging
Another focus of the app has been to ensure that URs always know the status of updates, including member updates. Continuous status and feedback inform, for example, when an update is being processed.
There has also been a focus on nudging. URs are nudged/motivated to collect and update information about themselves and members and continuously recruit new members.
The latter is done via an “Organizing Percentage,” calculated based on the number of colleagues a UR covers compared to the number of members. The higher the “rating,” the better. The app also includes membership fees, member benefits, and videos to assist URs in their daily work.
